Industry estimates suggest that Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are likely to invest US$320 billion to meet the energy demands of their fast-paced economies. Preliminary estimates from the UAE Ministry of Economy state that Foreign Direct Investment was US$17 billion in 2007 and is expected to grow to US$19 billion in 2008.
